The homeowners bought this period home on the Isle of Wight 13 years ago. 'We fell for its large spaces, traditional attributes, 1970s vaults and Esse range cooker. ' The kitchen area is north facing so it does not get any sun, plus the original walls and floor tiles were absolutely shady and gloomy. 'We needed to create the design features from various ages work together to make a homely kitchen‐diner with a snug next door. We returned the dated orange floor tiles with slate, appended tounge‐and‐groove panels and panited the walls pale cream. '.
